Communication from Alpha Fleet Command
Special Operation Executive (SOE)

First, there is the detachment teams call Special Operation Executive, or SOE. They are one of the most deniable tool to Special Operation. These team operate outside the realms of SFI, tasked to do all those nasty sorts of jobs that regular fleet branch wouldn't send a fully armed security detail team to do. Reputation makes these people some of the nastiest that are allowed to wear a Star Fleet insignia, you'll probably never know you met one.
They report to the CO of ships assigned to, but reports to the shadowy head of the SO branch directly. These team are elite and highly trained to do what is needed to secure the safety of the ship, Alpha Fleet, and the Federation.
Officer Commanding (SOE-CO)
The man in charge of the Commando, normally the ship's XO or a senior officer. A veteran of several very nasty places that he doesn't talk about. An above average number of these people have made their way up through the ranks and made the majority of their career in the SO branch.
Second in Charge (SOE-XO)
As above expect not quite as many skeletons in his closet. As with the team CO the XO is likely to be perhaps younger than the average for his rank, the SO branch tends to promote a little faster than average, as one might expect from a branch that is effectively on permanent voluntary hazardous assignment
Detachment Team Leader(SOE-Team Leader)
A real hard case, possibly the post held by the single hardest folk in the fleet. These people chew razor wire for breakfast, piss lightning and crap nails in rapid fire. They were born from a chunk of granite.
They are effectively the hard rock against which the unit sets their back, more knowledgeable about the practicalities fo hard target warfare than anyone in the federation would really be comfortable knowing they were employing, and more used to the nasty sharp end than almost any other living breathing creature in the quadrant. These folk eat Jem'hadar for breakfast.
SOE Specialists:
Pointman
If this was a less enlightened age all these folks would be on speed. They are the adrenaline junkies of the team that really get off on the danger of being the persons to step through the possibly mined door, of living life in that split second of awareness before the shooting starts and making instant decisions about who to shoot and who not to. Stress comes with the job along with short life expectancy.
Medic
Not the fluffies you might find elsewhere these people know how to put a man back togetehr and get him fighiting again wetehr his body really wants to or not. They are often also of use keeping targets alive just long enough to tel teh rest of the team where their friends are hiding.
Heavy Weapons x2
Big built and hard eyed these are the sort fo folk who really enjoy the 'dakka' part of their job, the ones who like watching big things blown to bits and crowds swept from their feet. they tend to be a little more hot tempered than some but very very dedicated to their tools.
Sniper
These men, women and sentients tend to be some of the real nasty folk, the people who are happy for their enemy never to have even te slightest hint of a chance, the sorts who surgically eradicate lives and move on to the next target without missing a beat. Being a crack shot is however less important than being damn sneaky. Scopes can make anyman a marksman, only skill at escape and evasion makes him one who lives to tell the tale.
They often find themselves out on a limb, a good distance from the others of their team and without a hope of support, only their cover and concealment keeping them alive and breathing.
Technician
An engineer who decided that he would rather know how to make things work than fix things, these people rarely have the in depth knowledge of full engineers but they just might be able to jury rig up a warp containment field with a cup full of water and a can of silly string. Often very very smart people who could have made their lives in all sorts of safer ways but have chosen for reasons of their own to be some of the lightest armed people in a hard target commando. These folk are smart, fast witted and highly analytical. They are also often the only vulcans on the team, most of that race not mentally built for the stress and lethality of the other roles.
Like the others they are soldier first and specialists second, highly trained commandos with a flair for extreme violence, but these ones also occasionally know how to put things together rather than just explode them into gorey chunks.
Demolitions
Often missing fingers these folk make things that are in the way disappear and make things that other people want to go boom go 'phut' instead. Highly trained and carrying nerves of steel, these folk often find themselves the last people in the building and have a real tendency to talk to themselves, or their recorders so that the next man to have their job won't make the same fatal mistakes.
